A friend of mine with a one year old commented how much she loves plants but feels they’re a hazard with her little one around. As infants grow into active little whirlwinds, potted plants either on floors or reachable surfaces will likely end in spilled soil and a messy baby.

Yet, there’s no need to give up on one of the interior essentials.

Here are some ideas:

  • If your shelves are sturdy, place cascading plants on top; this gives a tropical effect
  • frame your favorite flora photographs; they will emit the essence of nature’s beauty
  • go for hanging plants from ceiling
  • speckle a wall with interesting wall planters (as seen below); these give texture and satisfy your leafy need

Which of these modern plant options do you prefer?

I don’t have children but I do have two VERY energetic pups. I have succulents all over our apartment as well as fresh flowers, not gonna lie there have been spills in the past. I love the wall hangings…but I wouldnt put it past my little devils to knock those over too.

Great point…there’s a potential for little ones to knock these down too…maybe the trick is height and an absence of balls to throw around. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
